Nancy Jean Gray

I was born in Washington DC. I have lived all over, Australia, Texas, California, Michigan, Wisconsin, Maryland and Nevada. I received my degree in theater arts at Wisconsin. I have been entertaining audiences for many years. I was with the L A Circus and over 21 years at The Magic Castle. I am a magician, ventriloquist, puppeteer, story teller, face painter, balloon artist, and also entertain as a positive physic and Mrs. Claus.

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I am the eldest of 4. I have 2 brothers and 1 sister. My husband of 13 years is retired. I have a daughter living in New York with her husband, and their dog Chaplin. She is a Theatre and film producer that has produced TV, several successful live off Broadway shows and an award-winning movie. My son-in-law is a writer, director, and actor. He currently has 2 movies out, and last year, wrote his first book.

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
I am known as a Magical Singing Ventriloquist Story Teller. What I love most about what I do is making people happy. I’m very good at what I do, and I can entertain anyone from the age of 2 – 102.

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
Hawthorne Grill and Casa Don Juan. Some of my other favorites unfortunately went out of business during the pandemic.

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
I have lived in Summerlin since 2015.

Q: Who is the most interesting person you've met here in our community?
I have met all kinds of interesting people, but I would have to say Temma Hammond with The Golden Network.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
New York to see my daughter.

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
My favorite movies are Where the Crawdads Sing, it’s a great movie and I love the strong female involvement (producers etc). And In and Of Itself, my daughter and son-in-law’s movie currently on Hulu.

Q: What advice would you give to people?
Take time, take a deep breath and be happy that you are alive!

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
To go to Europe

Q: What is your go to band when you cant decide what to listen to?
Classical and Broadway Music. My favorite is Sirius XM Broadway Station.

Q: What current (or former) local business are you a frequent visitor of in our community?
Savers, I shop there all the time.

Q: If you could choose anyone living today (or has passed) and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would you meet for this lunch?
Dame Judi Dench, she is a fabulous actress. I would take her to eat at Hawthorne Grill.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
My neighborhood, Sun City. I have great neighbors!

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
I would like to be performing live and recorded shows for both kids and adults.

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don't know about you?
Looks can be deceiving. People just see an old lady and would never know that I can keep a 3 year old entertained. But one thing people don’t know is that I lost 125 pounds, and it was without surgery or pills.

Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?
I’ve been to many beautiful places….Fiji, Samoa, Phillip Island in Australia and Pine Forest in Texas. Summerlin is also beautiful. I get so much joy out of looking at our mountains and how they change daily with the light.

Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
I get to play fun characters all year around, but my favorite holiday is Halloween.

Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
Many things, but a peach milkshake is the first thing that comes to mind.

Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My daughter

Q: What is one or two of your favorite smells?
Lavender and fresh lemon

Cozy, Safe, Comfortable
